ELIN SCHOFIELD
DIRECTOR | WRITER | MOVEMENT DIRECTOR

ABOUT ELIN
I am a UK based award-winning director, writer and movement director working primarily in the creation of original work, new adaptations and artist development. I am drawn to the reclamation of women's stories throughout history, the excavation of familial relationships, and work that has a physical scope.
My recent work includes the critically acclaimed A DOLL'S HOUSE by Henrik Ibsen in a new adaptation by Chris Bush for Sheffield Theatres' Crucible. It was described as "deeply moving" (The Guardian), "a taut and gripping watch" (The Stage) and "riveting" (The Times). I also directed the closing of the Olivier Awards 2024 - a celebration of the National Theatre at 60.
I directed the final play in ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS, the Chris Bush triptych at Sheffield Theatres in celebration of the theatre’s 50th anniversary, for which I won the Best Director Award at the 2022 UK Theatre Awards.
I am a highly experienced facilitator having led workshops at schools, colleges and organisations such as the Old Vic, Leeds Playhouse, Paines Plough, Derby Theatre, Sheffield Theatres, University of Sheffield, University of Reading and the National Student Drama Festival. I have experience with a wide range of groups, including emerging artists, school groups, artists with learning disabilities and/or autism, adults living with dementia and intergenerational community groups.
I am an ex-competitive Latin American and Ballroom dancer and teacher and a fully qualified Personal Trainer.
I am represented by Alexandra Cory at Berlin Associates.
